Our Team

Sarah Wright

Principal

My clients know me as approachable, attentive and considerate.  I focus on building mutual trust which is paramount when discussing sensitive and personal information for legal matters.

My areas of interest include agriculture and commercial considerations for the current and next farming generation.  I have a strong connection with farming having married a fourth generation grain and sheep producer.  What farming has taught me is integral to my ability to be a good lawyer so much so, that Narpyn Law is named after my husband’s family farm in Mt Barker.

I enjoy helping clients with estates, wills, property farm leases and farm documentation as well as breaking down the barriers of what a lawyer can be and can offer.  It’s not just about giving advice at a level that makes it easy to understand, our role is also to help educate clients in regard to their commercial understanding.

I graduated from Law at the University of Southampton, 2002 and grew up in Cannock, Staffordshire.

In my spare time, I love having fun with my family, cooking, photography, and walking.  I am the Vice Chair of the Great Southern Grammar School Council, perform pro bono work for local clubs and am the bookkeeper for my husband’s family farm.

Michael Cripps

Special Counsel

I offer clients more than 30 years of legal and commercial experience working for firms and businesses in Australia, China and Singapore. Much of my career has focussed on agri-business, acting or working for both large corporates (Archer Daniels Midlands, Cargills, Macquarie, Vitol, Glencore, Louis Dreyfus and others), as well as primary producers and land-owners.

In 2017 my family and I moved to Albany, and I began commuting from Albany to Perth, S.E. Asia and China working for my clients 4-5 months a year, working remotely from my Albany office for the balance. By late 2019, much of my work was within W.A, a process which Covid19 accelerated from mid 2020 and in October 2021 I joined Narpyn Law & Conveyancing, focussing on my agri-business and commercial work and clients in W.A. generally and Great Southern more specifically.

As part of Narpyn Law & Conveyancing my key areas of legal expertise and practice are:

  • Business Structures & Governance (shareholder and partnership agreements, joint ventures) including more complex family business ownership structuring and governance;

  • Mining Exploration Access agreements and arrangements (acting exclusively for landholders):

  • Commercial & Rural Leasing;

  • Share-Farming Agreements;

  • Carbon-Farming (Aggregator) Arrangements; and

  • General Commercial Licencing & Agreements.

In my spare time I enjoy playing tennis and hiking with family and friends. I graduated from the University of Sydney in 1984 with a law degree, and subsequently lived and worked in Canberra, Melbourne, Taipei, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Chongqing, Singapore and Perth. In 2016 I was named by China Business Law Journal as one of China’s top 100 lawyers. I am a qualified professional Chinese/English interpreter/translator, and a current board member for Shalom House in Albany.

Rebecca Eaton

Conveyancer

Clients describe me as bubbly, fun and efficient. I love helping people and making the settlement process as smooth as possible. I have a genuine rapport with all of my clients and go above and beyond to reach settlement.

My job is different every day and you never know what will come across your desk. Previously, I’ve worked in family law and litigation and met some of the most interesting people during what can be very difficult circumstances.

My new focus and challenge at Narpyn Law & Conveyancing will be in Conveyancing. I’m really excited to be a part of such an amazing team. It’s a fantastic opportunity and adventure of which to be a part.

I have been living and working in Albany for the past 15 years. For me, it’s a great place to raise a family and offers a wonderful work life balance. It’s also a great place for geocaching!

Senior Associate

I help families, businesses and individuals with a key focus in the practice areas of wills and estate planning, deceased estate administration, general commercial, self managed superannuation fund and property related matters. My career has seen me act for people and businesses in all walks of life, ranging from high net wealth individuals and corporates to everyday families like my own.

I have been in the legal industry since 2012, working full time as a paralegal in Perth whilst contemporaneously studying full time to obtain my law degree from Charles Darwin University.

I approach my work with pragmatism and empathy. I love a challenge and genuinely enjoy working hard for my clients.

I have previously volunteered my time as an executive committee member of a large sporting organisation in Perth and present to accountants, financial advisers and professionals on topics relating to wills and estate planning and deceased estates.

I grew up in Boyup Brook and relocated to Albany in 2021 with my husband to raise our family and enjoy the lifestyle the beautiful Great Southern region has to offer. In my spare time I enjoy painting abstract art, playing and watching sport, drinking Great Southern wine, fishing, camping and spending time with my husband, our two dogs and (very!) busy little son.
